I accidentally ate my false teeth what should I do?
It means you should go out with me!!!
Reply:wait till u take a crap
Reply:You can not be serious....
Reply:Go to the doctor asap. You could damage your bowel or stomach so just go to the doctor and get checked out to make sure it is passing through the system okay.
Reply:I%26#039;m sorry, I really don%26#039;t believe that.!!
Reply:yea just wait a day or so till it comes back out and wipe it off
Reply:If the tooth is small and doesn%26#039;t have sharp edges then have a few bananas and eat lots of food so that it travels along with it in your system. Take an x-tray after one day to make sure it has not been stuck in your stomach or in small intestine. Otherwise go and see your doctor but do take your x-ray with you along.
Wish you good luck!
Reply:Don%26#039;t eat anything like steak! Stick to soft foods like bananas, yogurt, pancakes etc.
Reply:It should reappear with a grin sometime soon.

Reply:wow. that is..interesting.
why is your cousin having such problems w/ that? its not that big of a deal
Reply:just get the teeth off..and clean off any saliva or other gunk..ew

Reply:Buy her the glue for the dentures. Polident I think its called.
Reply:Who is scarred g-ma or cuz? Either way I think she will be fine.
Reply:They flew out and actually bit? Or did they just hit your cousin?
I guess you could have her speak to a therapist about it. Then see her dentist again to get the dentures repaired.
Reply:Book your cousin in for some mental plastic surgery. They should be able to get rid of the scar.
Reply:you haveto borrow the teeth and prove to the cousin that it is a one time bad deal -- but the teeth are safe!!!
Reply:ahaha, niiice, well you%26#039;ll prolly have to send her to some kind of mental home or something, idk.
lol good luck with that :)
Reply:Get her some denture adhesive and make sure she uses it so this won%26#039;t happen again. I feel bad for your grandma and cousin.

Has anyone considered getting false teeth so you dont have to brush anymorE?
getting false teeth is one of the best parts of getting old, if you get them now then what have you got to look forward to!!
Has anyone considered getting false teeth so you dont have to brush anymorE?
Even with false teeth you have to practice oral hygeine. You have to clean the teeth whether they are in your mouth or not. Otherwise it%26#039;s just gross.
Reply:You can get mouth infection if you don`t.
Reply:Nope i like to keep MY teeth clean.
Reply:Lazy much? You%26#039;d still have to clean the dentures and your mouth. Unless you want an infected mouth with breath potent enough to kill an elephant.
Reply:even with false teeth, your mouth will have germs and bad breath. Bacteria lives on your tongue more than anywhere else on the mouth so unless you plan to get a false tongue, you will still need your toothbrush.
Reply:not at all. And even if you should be so lazy you would still have to take care of them like real teeth so its pointless to go thru the hassle. Just take care of your real teeth.
Reply:If you have false teeth you have to clean it.
After every meal you have to brush and wash your false teeth.
But with your own teeth you can gargle and brush later.I believe that more work is needed to keep your false teeth clean and your mouth fresh.
Reply:hahahahahahahahaha i think some people might have that idea do u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Reply:Right now I really can%26#039;t think about false teeth cause im getting my braces off in 3 1/2 hours but im nervous... I have a question on here could someone answer?
Reply:Thats silly. You will still mave to maintain your oral hygiene. Have you looked into dental implants yet?

How do you get false teeth to look white? they are so discolored looking.?
Depending on the age and quality of the dentures and what their original color was- it might not be possible to %26quot;whiten%26quot; them. Since false teeth are not from natural tissues, whatever color they were manufactured as will be the color they will always be. Sometimes they get stained and need a thorough cleaning with both a soak and with scrubbing.
If they are older dentures they may have absorbed stains from foods and drinks.
I do not know of any magic formulas
How do you get false teeth to look white? they are so discolored looking.?
baking soda with a little water...make a paste then brush....they will look and feel fresh....

Where can i find false teeth ,without having to wait a long time, for my thai wife's Grandfather in Thailand?
You don%26#039;t like him much do you?
Dentures have to fit the wearer. How do you expect to find some without first doing the fitting (taking measurement etc)?
I recommend that you contact

false teeth need to be personally fitted before they are constructed.
Reply:That%26#039;s funny!!
Reply:you cant get them quickly, your grandfather in law will have to visit the dentist and an impression of his mouth will be made, then it will be sent away for a denture to be made, he will have to wait about a week.
Reply:the dental hospital in Bangkok go private price is reasonable you can make a appointment by e mail
Reply:I have a friend here in the UK who goes to Thailand for all his dental work! I do%26#039;nt understand why you would want to have the teeth made anywhere else. It%26#039;s a darn sight cheaper in Thailand, believe me.
Reply:Car boot sales in the UK, you may have to try a few sets out to find a suitable fit, but they are very cheap.
Reply:As it is Halloween you re in luck as there are plenty of fang teeth/Vampire teeth in the shops that you could purchase as a stand by until the real ones are ready! *LOL*
On a serious note dentures are made to measure! They have to be made to fit the size of the mouth and gums.

Has anyone had those false teeth that screw into your jaw bone?
was it painful?
Has anyone had those false teeth that screw into your jaw bone?
very painful but they shoot novacane into your gums so less pain. but you still feel the pain because they screw that **** into your bone. you%26#039;d be feeling the pain for 2 weeks but they make you take medicine. i had to take tylenol codeine which is a powerful pain reliever. atleast i%26#039;m telling you the truth straight up unlike some people. yes painful.
edit: for the post below me, they knock you out? whaat? they never did that to me, i had to feel the pain, they only shot this novacane thing into me to numb my mouth. but if you%26#039;re allergic to novacane maybe they knock you out %26#039;cuz it too painful.
Reply:No dont worry about it, just make sure its a good dentist doing the job, I had to get one due to a sporting accident, they give you enough meds to knock you out and make it painless, its just a bit weird afterwards getting used to it. Good Luck!
no clue what you are talking about and it seems novocaine isnt strong enough for a procedure like that, when i had it done i signed some form for anesthesia and it was painless...of course the day after it felt a bit sore, but after that i was fine
Reply:They don%26#039;t SCREW the teeth into your jaw, the posts are screwed in and the teeth are bonded to the posts. Compared to the extractions, it%26#039;s not very painful, you can chew whatever you like after about 24 hours.

I need all my teeth removed, can I have false teeth put in straight away? I m scared of dentists and Im 52.?
Yes you can have dentures put in right away after the extractions. It is called an immediate denture. Before you actually get the teeth removed you%26#039;ll come in for a series of impressions and try in%26#039;s before the actual extraction appointment. Then once all of that is done you can be scheduled to have you teeth removed. Once the teeth are removed the dentist or assistant will fit the dentures into your mouth. Making adjustments to the dentures as necessary. Then put them in and you are to leave them in for 24 hours otherwise if you remove your dentures in those 24 hours you more then likely not be able to put them back in. Then you%26#039;ll come back the next day to see how then denture is fitting and how you are healing. Then there is a process that may last a few months of getting your dentures to fit just right and having your tissues go down from the swelling. Well I hope that helped...Good Luck

Reply:Oh my gosh! That%26#039;s terrible! Ask your doctor how you are going to chew your food from now on and take better care of yourself!
Reply:No they have to make impressions of your mouth before they can have the dentures made.
Reply:Did a dentist tell you that you need to have ALL your teeth extracted? Well, if this is the case there are 2 ways of making dentures(false teeth). You can have the dentures made before your teeth are extraced so that right after the teeth are extracted the denture goes in. This is the most popular way to go but the most important to follow instructions so the extraction sites heal properly under the denture. Or you can have all your teeth extracted, let the sites heal up and then start the process of making the dentures. This is the least popular way because who wants to go around without teeth until the dentures are ready? But it helps the extraction sites heal faster.
Reply:You might want to ask about dental implants. Basically they%26#039;re dentures but they%26#039;re placed into your jaw (similarly to how your real teeth are anchored in). It%26#039;s probably quite an expensive procedure but the results should look like natural teeth when it%26#039;s finished. I%26#039;m not sure if they can do it at the same time they remove your teeth or not but I would think so.
Good luck to you!
Reply:yes they can make the impressions before they pull the teeth. They will make your appointment to pull your teeth when your teeth are ready. They will put the false teeth at that appointment. It will be sore for several days. but not usually unbearable.
Reply:They should give a temporary set for about 4-6 weeks. That gives your gums time to heal and the swelling to go down. In that time your permanent teeth are being made and should fit snug when you go back to the dentist. Good Luck.
Reply:yes definatly you can get artificial teeth just after getting extraction done. dentures which are to be used just after gettin extracted all teeth are termed as immediate dentures, in this procedure your impression is taken while you are having teeth present and they are fabricated on replicas and the teeth are removed from the replica and the denture is fabricated over it, its a short procedure where the extracted sockets will heal under the denture itself and no time you will be without teeth
but ideally you should get extractions done in appropriate manner that is two or three at a time and then follow up for the rest and go for the conventional dentures as immediate dentures do not last long and accuracy is less as it is fabricated on the replica completly and less in patient mouth and therby more chances of inaccuracy and ill fitting denture, as there are tissue and bony changes takin place which will lead to loosning and you will require another denture and some times healing of the sockets beneath denture surface do not occur properly or is unhealthy and may even get infected rarely.
as people fear of being without teeth in between the appointments then you have one more option called as intermediate dentures which can help you in the time period between your extractions and conventional denture and they have long life as compared to the immediate ones.
Reply:I like kristylee%26#039;s answer the best, although some others are correct also.
Sometimes, you can take out most of the back teeth and allow some healing - like 6-8 weeks - before you make the impression so the dentures stand a chance of fitting better for a longer period of time before they need to be relined.

Yes, but then the real trouble comes when you have to find a pretend dentist.

How often is false teeth change?
Had it Nov, 2005..
How often is false teeth change?
If you%26#039;re gums change, your false teeth will be too big, if you gain, or lose weight, your false teeth will be either too small, or too big. I know for a fact if you get the false teeth made after your teeth are pulled, the plaster fittings will be too big, because your gums will of course be swollen. So many dentists will take the plaster fitting before the teeth are ever pulled. I know they are a pin in the ***. I have a top plate, due to a wreck and had to have all the top teeth pulled out.
Reply:Never... not unless you break your plate.
I know someone who has the same plate for the last 30 years and he has been adding 3 teeth to it along the years.
If your gum shrink... the dentist can adjust it by packing your denture with more of the pink filler.
Reply:I am sorry but I don%26#039;t understand your question. Are you saying you have had false teeth since Nov 2005? Unless you are having some kind of trouble with the fit they will be fine.
Reply:I%26#039;m not sure, I think it depends on the person. I have had mine for about 15 years and they%26#039;re still perfect. My husband, on the other hand has only had his for around 5 years and needs a new set. His gums shrunk more than mine. I say if it ain%26#039;t broke, don%26#039;t fix it.

Reply:anything you want but if i were you i would get braces
Reply:If you have teeth that are perfectly fine and do not need to be extracted due to decay or any other reason, your dentist cannot and will not take them out to place dentures. If you are concerned with the alignment, talk to your dentist about orthodontic care (braces). If there are other concerns, mention those to your dentist, and together, you should be able to come up with a solution to meet all of your needs. I recommened that you keep your teeth as long as possible. Dentures are good for those who really really need them, but your own teeth are always the best way to go!
Reply:I would get braces if i were you.
Reply:Braces are better in the long run, but fake teeth are prettier.
Reply:You should not ask this question because you are comparing apples and Oranges. As other people replied, if you have health teeth, braces are the solution. It may not be quick fix you are looking for but definitely worth the time and money. If you are concerned about the looks, ask your Orthodontist about Clear braces, Invisalign or Orthoclear.
With dentures, you will not have any propriception (that means if you bite into something hard or hot) there will be no reaction. In addition, you will not be able to enjoy the taste and flavor of foods you like. What ever you decide to do (hopefully braces) DO NOT GO TO A GENERAL DENTIST FOR Orthodontics. I have seen one too many patients who got butchered by dentist%26#039;s pretending to be Orthodontists.
Reply:just get braces
Reply:You should get braces if they are healthy. If they are decayed and have cavities you should get dentures. It is up to you and whatever is cheapest would be mine! I already have braces so I have no choice.

Why do my false teeth not fit if i leave them out for several hours?
even if i run them under hot water it doesnt help. extremely uncomfortable!
Why do my false teeth not fit if i leave them out for several hours?
This happens because the soft tissues in your mouth relax and change shape when you take your false teeth out. If you will pardon me, it%26#039;s like taking a corset off - your body relaxes in to its natural shape. So, your false teeth mould the soft tissues in your mouth to the shape of the plate. Of course, it may be that if you%26#039;ve had you false teeth a long time or they were badly designed in the first place, it is a good idea to go and talk the problem through with your dentist.
Reply:cos someone swapped them over when you werent looking.
Reply:Leaving your denture out for several hours may not be the cause of it being not fitting well when put back; possibly your gums are settling or getting a bit shrunk. A dental consultation is recommended so that the doc may decide whether you need to get a new set of denture made!
Reply:Yeah I agree with the couple answers above, you might need a new set made. good luck!

Do you have false teeth?
What is better for chewing the real thing or your choppers?
Does it hurt?
Do you have false teeth?
fortunately I still have my own teeth- However, I work with dentures everyday- by all means if you can keep your natural teeth do it- no matter what ANY dentist tells you there is nothing better than your own teeth- most people who have dentures don%26#039;t usually have much trouble with the uppers but no matter what you do a lower denture will not stay in place and they flop all over the place.

Is having a false teeth or fix bridge a turn off for men?
i%26#039;m a dental student.. i had lots of patients, be it men or women in my clinic having false teeth or oral prosthesis. i don%26#039;t see any reason why a guy will get turned off once he found out about it. it really doesn%26#039;t matter to them. what matters to them is your oral hygiene. i know you understand this very well that having bad breath, too much food deposits that got stucked in your teeth,a badly decayed tooth (sometimes the reason for having bad breath)which needs to be extracted, and a decayed tooth, frequent mouth sores (can be a sign of infection), and etc. is a main turn off for men. guys may possibly got turn off with girls having missing tooth.. if you had any, have a false teeth. it%26#039;s better to have one than not have at all. you are also more confident and confortable when you have something useful in your mouth. having false teeth will help you with speech. having none will complicate your communication skills. our adjacent tooth may also drift to the area extracted once its not corrected early. it will be possible for malocclusion costing you more to have braces. in short, as for your question, guys does not get turn off with women having false teeth. they have a clear understanding of missing tooth since most people happened to have their tooth extracted. they love women concerned about their mouth.. i bet you know the reason why? =)
Is having a false teeth or fix bridge a turn off for men?
I would say dentures could be a turn off but badly decayed teeth or severe periodontal disease would be worse. Fixed bridges would not be a turn off as he would not know it was not your real teeth (if the bridge were done well).

Fixodent for false teeth?
I recently got a upper full plate, and I am having a bit of a problem keeping it on right. This is not my permanent set, in which I will be getting in about 3 months. Now in the meantime I have to keep the plate on with quite a bit of Super Polygrip. My question may sound silly, but I am swallowing a lot of the Polygrip. It is just disgusting, I hate it. I have been sick to my sotmach and really feel bad. Does anyone see any danger in how much of that crap I swallow? Thanks Jana
Fixodent for false teeth?
I know what you mean, I don%26#039;t think that it can hurt you since it for putting in your mouth. I have found that the polygrip strips work the best, that way you are not dealing with the paste stuff and shallowing it. You can get a box of like 24 strips for about $4-5 at walmart. You just wet it a bit and stick it to your plate. I love them. You should try them.
Reply:Just put a %26#039;dot%26#039; of it on the roof of the plate and a few %26#039;dots%26#039; in the areas that your teeth would be. When you place the denture, the adhesive will spread out where it needs to go, and you won%26#039;t have as much excess... it sounds like you%26#039;re putting too much on.
:)
Reply:you should quit wearing the adhesives and go back to your dentist and get a soft liner to fill in the gaps where your gums are healing.
The more you get used to that glued in feeling, the harder it is to wear your final denture when it comes to wearing it without the fixodent.
I don%26#039;t see any danger in swallowing some of it.
Reply:I%26#039;m not sure how healthy it is to be swallowing polygrip :) but I do know how disgusting that stuff is! I see it quite often at work. If you partial is not fitting correctly, it was not made right. I would tell your dentist and they should be able to send it back to the lab and make it fit better! Even if it%26#039;s just 3 months...3 months can be a long time with something annoying like that! They might be able to add clasps or take a new impression to get a better fit.
Reply:It sounds like you might be putting too much of the product in your denture. Since it is new you should probably go back to the dentist and have it adjusted. You may also need a soft liner put in to make it more comfortable. With the soft liner in you won%26#039;t need to use much adhesive if any.

Seriously, People are surprised because you don%26#039;t often see such a young person with false teeth. I don%26#039;t think they are looking down on you.
Now whitening and veneers and things, those are elective treatments, usually for the vain. That I can%26#039;t stand.
Reply:Depends on why you had to get false teeth i suppose. If you never brushed your teeth of flossed then, i would have to say thats rather discusting. But if its because of an accedent or something then thats fine, there are many benefits to haveing false teeth if you know what i mean. =)
I can only tell the difference between false teeth and real when they go to eat corn on the cob, or an apple or something that requires strong teeth. You can also tell they are fake if you dont clean them good enough.
Reply:As long as you have good looking teeth i think there%26#039;s absolutely no problem.
I%26#039;m very sure that your looking beautifull, and beautifull as ever.

Look at it this way......you%26#039;ll never have a toothache, or a cavity to fill.
Almost a year ago I had 23 teeth pulled and full dentures put in. I%26#039;m 54, and even at that I felt it was too young. I always associated dentures with people in their 80%26#039;s and 90%26#039;s. But then I started finding people, people I had known for a long time, aged from 18 on up who have them, and have had for a long time, and I never even knew.

I have false teeth for medical reasons?
If you%26#039;re happy that%26#039;s all that matters and hey one day we%26#039;re all gonna need false teeth!lol

Reply:thats interesting, what are the medical reasons? just out of curiousity.
but anyway i guess i%26#039;d personally rather have false teeth than none or %26quot;bad%26quot; teeth

Badly fitting false teeth?
I am sick of using fixatives and would like to find a malleable .non toxic substance to make a supporting mould for loose bottom plate.
Badly fitting false teeth?
i am a dental nurse and i would recommend that you see your dentist regarding possible soft / reling of your denture.
Reply:Lower dentures are a bear to get used to and they do not stay put. Dental implants are the best answer to a loose denture. They can be costly, but they will hold the denture in place very well. All other denture creams/pastes/glues only hold temporarily, sorry!
Reply:That is the main complaint patients have with a lower denture, and it’s the one reason saving at least the cuspids or bi’s on each side is so valuable. Instead of having the lower denture literally “floating” around, it can slip over these two teeth, letting them work as an anchor with the “over-denture.”
The “ridge” that the denture rest and relies on to hold the denture in place deteriorates once the teeth are removed. There is no reason for the bone to be there holding “nothing in place” so the ridge eventually disappears, leaving the patient with a floater. It’s exasperating for us as dental professionals because there is nothing we can do to “stop the bone of the ridge” from receding; it something that naturally happens when the teeth are no longer there. The upper denture relies on the palate to create a suction that helps to hold it in position, even after bone loss due to the extractions.
There is a “reline” that should be done around 4-6 months after the patient is fitted with a new denture. Having a “reline” of a denture is really “remaking” the acrylic tissue part or the inside that “rest against your tissue” on the denture to match the new changes from the bone loss. If you haven’t had one done, it would be something to consider.
Another way to stop the floating lower denture is to have two implants placed and have a Velplast over-denture made. This is a slightly expensive route to take, but it does offer the patient a more stable and secure denture that last for many years. Most patients who choose this denture are extremely happy with the outcome.
Hopefully you will discuss this with your dentist, he will help guide you in the direction that is best for you. I hope I’ve shed some light on this particular problem and helped to enlighten you with the alternatives that are available.

Why are false teeth sometimes called wallies?
It%26#039;s a Scottish vernacular word, from the central area of the country - Wallies, meaning %26quot;false teeth%26quot;, used in examples such as: %26quot;Ah%26#039;ll stoat yer wallies%26quot;, meaning:
%26quot;I%26#039;ll punch you in the teeth%26quot;.
It comes from the term %26quot;Wally dugs%26quot;, referring to the material they were made from, i.e., china, and a %26quot;wally dug%26quot; is an ornamental china dog. Apparently.
(I would check the OED on that, but my link to that wonderful resource is down. Typical!)

Who invented false teeth?
History
The first European sets of dentures date from the 15th century and most probably existed before that time. They were carved from bone or ivory, or made up of teeth sourced from graveyards, the recent dead or living donors who exchanged their teeth for profit. These dentures were uncomfortable, attached visibly to a base supported by any remaining teeth with a thread of metal or silk. The false teeth were often made with ivory from the hippopotamus or walrus, and usually rotted after extended use.[citation needed]
London%26#039;s Peter de la Roche is believed to be one of the first %26#039;Operators for the Teeth%26#039;, men who fashioned themselves as specialists in dental work. Often these men were professional goldsmiths, ivory turners or students of barber-surgeons.[1]
The first porcelain dentures were made around 1770 by Alexis Duchâteau. In 1791 the first British patent was granted to Nicholas Dubois De Chemant, previously assistant to Duchateau, for De Chemant%26#039;s Specification, %26quot;a composition for the purpose of making of artificial teeth either single double or in rows or in complete sets and also springs for fastening or affixing the same in a more easy and effectual manner than any hitherto discovered which said teeth may be made of any shade or colour, which they will retain for any length of time and will consequently more perfectly resemble the natural teeth.%26quot; He began selling his wares in 1792 with most of his porcelain paste supplied by Wedgwood.[citation needed] Single teeth in porcelain were made since 1808. Later dentures were made of vulcanite and then, in the 20th century, acrylic resin and other plastics. In Britain in 1968 79% of those aged 65-74 had no natural teeth, by 1998 this proportion had fallen to 36%.[citation needed]

Who invented false teeth?
i think ben franklin .he made his out of wood.
Reply:False teeth date back as far as 700 BC. The Etruscans designed false teeth out of ivory and bone that were secured into the mouth by gold bridgework.
Reply:Go older still, Egyptian archeologists have opened tomps where the mummies have had implant therapy.
The a tooth (prosumably of some unwilling donor) was attached to a gold spike and planted in the gums. They also found gold wire which was put through a false tooth and through the adjacent teeth to form a bridge.
The first known dentist was an Egyptian named Hesi-Re (3000 B.C.). He was the chief toothist to the Pharaohs. He was also a physician, indicating an association between medicine and dentistry. In the 5th century B.C. Herodatus, a historian, described the medical art in Egypt: %26quot;The art of medicine is distributed thus: Each physician is a physician of one disease and no more; and the whole country is full of physicians, for some profess themselves to be physicians of the eyes, others of the head, others of the teeth, others of affections of the stomach, and others of more obscure ailments%26quot;.
The first evidence of a surgical operation was found in Egypt. A mandible with two perforations just below the root of the first molar indicated the establishment of drainage of an abscessed tooth. The approximate date is 2750 B.C. The splinting of teeth also was practiced by Egyptians; evidence by a specimen from Cizeh, 2500 B.C. It shows two molars fastened with heavy gold wire.

my parents both use dail anti bacterial soap to clean them, and about once a week stick them in bleach water....looks to be working for them.

My false teeth fell out in the soup, how can i get them out pleaseeeeeeee help?
Wait, everyone....let%26#039;s carefully analyze this dilemma before jumping to conclusions. This inquiry brings many questions to mind. First of all, how did it happen? Were you eating hot soup which caused your gums to swell thereby forcing the teeth from your mouth? If that is the case, then most definitely leave them there until both the soup and your gums have cooled enough to safely remove the teeth from the soup with a spoon and replace them into your mouth. (Make sure to clean them first.) Secondly, what kind of soup are we talking about? Is it relatively thin such as french onion soup or chunky like chili? In the first case, the proper tool would most likely be a fork so that the liquid drains as the teeth are removed making them easier to clean and return to your mouth. But if we%26#039;re dealing with a chunky variety, tongs are your best friend. Another very important consideration is your environment. Are you at home or at a fancy French restaurant? If you are at home, then any of the aforementioned methods are perfectly acceptable. But the restaurant requires discretion. Quietly summon the Maitre d%26#039; and explain the problem. If you are still unable to speak because your gums are swelled, have your horrified dinner companion relay the information for you. Ask the Maitre d%26#039; to take the bowl of soup to the kitchen, retrieve the missing molars and return them to you in a covered dish. At this point, you can tuck the dentures into a pocket or in your hand (be sure to use a napkin), excuse yourself from the table, walk to the restroom and attend to the problem at hand...assuming the swelling is gone by now. Rinse the teeth in the sink (not in the toilet) before replacing them into your mouth...and Voila! You%26#039;re ready to rock! If none of these suggestions work for you, dial 9-1-1 and ask for the nice men white coats who will promptly escort you to a padded room...for your own protection.

Are false teeth better than struggling to maintain your deteriorating own?
When do actually bite the bullet, so to speak.
Are false teeth better than struggling to maintain your deteriorating own?
Keeping your own teeth is always best IF it is feasible. Sometimes people with multiple health problems and multiple medications seem to have more problems. If we have someone we seem to be chasing our tails with or one needs such extensive work (many root canals and crowns) that they cant afford it, dentures/implant abuted dentures are an option. One thing to keep in mind is conventional dentures (no implant involved as an anchor) will give you 70% LESS chewing ability. Bone shrinks and continues to do so your entire life so if you get dentures in you thirties, you will be miserable in your fifties. I would seek the opinion of an excellent dentist in my area. Dont just patch your teeth, if you have multiple large problems, fix them right. Also if you you have gum disease and it is chronic/severe beyond bone grafts and surgery with loose teeth or perio abscesses, dentures are your best options. It is hard to say with out seeing your teeth, medical hx and xrays what would be the best but, in general, your natural teeth are the best. Good Luck.
Reply:NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! you never want to lose your teeth!!!!!!
Reply:No. Duh...!
Reply:I was wondering the same thing... I sure wouldnt want false teeth, surely there would be a better option

It is hard to say with out seeing your teeth, medical hx and xrays what would be the best but, in general, your natural teeth are the best. Good Luck.

DENTURES. False Teeth.?
At age 76, I have now joined the %26#039;toothless brigade%26#039;!
I have a real job, keeping my lower dentures in place, especially when I am eating things like a steak, a toffee, an apple, a stick of celery, etc.
I%26#039;ve tried using those preparations that keep ones dentures in place, but honestly, they don%26#039;t work all that well.
My dentist has said that I may need to have my dentures remodelled (or was it relined?).
However, do you know of any other way, that will help me cope, when I eat %26#039;hard%26#039; food?
(I don%26#039;t really fancy being out and about, with no bottom denture, during the three to four days required, for remodelling (relining) my plate.)
Please advise me sensibly.
DENTURES. False Teeth.?
The most common problem people have with lower dentures is the looseness. It is because you don%26#039;t have the suction that you get with an upper denture and the bone is thin on the mandible (jawbone) so there%26#039;s not much to keep it in. It may be as simple as relining at your dentist office. It also depends how old the denture is. If it is older than 7 years or so, you may need a new lower denture due the the bone remodeling over time. The bone in your mouth is constantly changing and will do so for the rest of your life for the most part. Another option is an implant supported denture which consists of a lower denture which snaps onto mini -implants in your jaw. That may be a great option for you--check with your dentist and see what is the best course of treatment for you. Take care and good luck!
Reply:what r they like to where do u get usest to them i need a top set Report It
Reply:I will be interested in the answers, as i am going to need them soon !!!
Reply:your plate will have to be remodeled, maybe because your gums have shrunk and the plate is just to big for you now, there%26#039;s not much else you can try as you seem to have tryed the preparations available
Reply:There are many dental places (in most large cities) that can make a set of dentures in 1 day. You might also want to have a new mold of your lower gums done, and wear the current dentures until the new one is ready. Dentures should fit snug, without being tight, and without moving during chewing, even on hard things. You might want to consider a second opinion from another dentist.

Reply:Its relined. Your dentist needs to put some impression paste inside your lower denture and put it back in your mouth for a few minutes until it sets. He then needs to send it off to the lab to be relined. If you pay private it takes one day to do. If its on the NHS it will take about four days. What ever you decide theres no getting out of the dentist taking the lower denture off you, for it to go to the lab. Hope this helps.
Reply:Unfortunately, lower dentures are a big problem for those who wear them. When you no longer have teeth on the bottom, the bone that used to hold them in place starts to recede over time, making it harder and harder for there to be a place for your denture to stay in place. Eventually, they%26#039;ll just be %26quot;floating%26quot; in there. If your dentist recommends getting them relined, do it, that will help for awhile. Or, if you have a few thousand dollars laying around, see if you are a candidate for some implant abutments. This will give your lower denture something to hold on to. Good luck
Reply:You would need them relined. The bottom denture is harder to adapt because your lower jaw moves and the muscles can dislodge them. Also, Dentures are not made for anterior chewing...there are lucky ones that can chew anything but they are rare. These days there are new options. If you can afford it, an implant retained denture would eliminate problems. There are mini implants (www.imtec.com) which are less expensive and effective.
Good luck
Reply:i don%26#039;t even make lower dentures without implants anymore for the exact reason that you have described. lower dentures are not worth a penny unless they stay in. with the support of 2 or 4 implants, i promise that you will be able to crunch ice, chew gum, and eat corn off the cob.
the only drawback is the expense. you just have to figure out how much the ability to chew is worth to you.
Reply:get someone else to do the %26#039;hard%26#039; chewing for you.

What is better, false teeth or implanted teeth?
Implants are by far the best choice to replace missing teeth. Often times dentures are ill-fitting and patients almost always have problems with the lower denture. Implants are more expensive and insurance doesn%26#039;t cover them, but if you are able to then I would say to go that route.
What is better, false teeth or implanted teeth?
Dentures are less expensive, but i have implanted teeth, and although it was a pain to get, i don%26#039;t have any of the problems people i know with dentures have. in fact, Ive had less problems then when i had teeth.
Reply:Implants are better. If u can avoid false do so at all cost. More so with a lower denture.
Reply:False
Reply:none their both fake, your own teeth are the best teeth so try and save as many as u can :)
Reply:cost? false
esthectics? impanted.
false are speedier to be completed. requires years of follow up and relines.
implants can be gradual and slower process requires sugery, follow appointments, good coordination and willingnes to do proper oral hygiene.
Reply:Dentures are 70% less effective than your natural teeth. If you get dentures, you will most likely have problems with sore spots and difficulty chewing many foods, however this is the quickest, most common, easiest and least expensive route. Implants are wonderful but if you are looking at dentures, you must understand it is not likely you will get full mouth implants. Most oral surgeons or prosthodontists will place 4 implants and an attatched bar denture or extensive bridge work. You are looking at 10,000-15,000 per arch to do this the ideal way and it will take months and several appointments/surgeries. Not everyone is a candidate for implants, keep in mind you must have ample height and width of bone with enough density to hold the implant so if you are losing teeth due to gum disease, implants may not be the answer for you. I would recommend the implants over the denture any day if it is possible and feasible for you.

any of it? (I am talking in general since I know that there are some variations in home owner%26#039;s policies.) It is going to cost me $4000 to go to a dentist and have a new one put in.

Homeowners policies don%26#039;t cover your stuff for %26quot;oops I lost it%26quot;. Stuff (including your false teeth) is covered on a named perils basis - fire, theft, windstorm (with limitations), vehicular damage, etc.
So generally, no, it%26#039;s not covered for %26quot;I lost it%26quot; or %26quot;the dog ate it%26quot; or %26quot;I ran over it with the lawnmower%26quot;.

Reply:No. In fact I had someone in the same situation with a hearing aid. Sorry.

False teeth re dentures?
Let%26#039;s say this is your 1st set and you have never wore one before.
First of all, you will probably feel there is something in your mouth that is not food. Your mouth will produce more saliva and to secrete it at a higher rate. Gagging might be a problem for some patient. However, after a few days, your brain will sense this appliance is not food and you will get used to it. New dentures will also be the inevitable cause of sore spots as they rub and press on the mucosa. A few denture adjustments for the weeks following insertion of the dentures can take care of this issue.
Reply:you prob get used to them
Reply:I had all of my top teeth pulled and I hate it. My dentures make me gag and I can%26#039;t wear them. Now I have to walk around with no top teeth. I bought denture glue and that is really a mess when you take out your teeth. If you really don%26#039;t need all of your teeth pulled I suggest you don%26#039;t do it. If you leave some teeth in then you will have something for your dentures to hook to.

False teeth just relined?
gone back for adjustment 10 times and they still hurt; and, i cant eat Anybody think I should just go somewhere else and start over ? it seems like each adjustment throws something else off and they get worse and more painfull. advise please
False teeth just relined?
Since you have had a reline I can assume that you are not new to wearing dentures, so therefore you know how they should feel. New dentures or relines usually require a few adjustments (unless your lucky!), but 10 sounds a bit excessive, especially if you are having no improvement. Is the dentist experienced? Is there another dentist at the same practice you can see perhaps? Or even get them to do the reline again but try a %26#039;soft reline%26#039; instead (at no cost to you of course as it is their obligation to make sure they get it right!)
Reply:There used to be a kit you get at the drug store where you can apply it soft and it adjusts to the shape of your mouth.
I don%26#039;t know if they even still have it or not,but it%26#039;s worth a try.
I%26#039;ve been down the same road and it was a good product.
You go to the dentist and they dont take the time to fit it right.

I need false teeth on top, if they make the mold won't the loose teeth pop out?
I%26#039;m scared to get the mold done.
I need false teeth on top, if they make the mold won%26#039;t the loose teeth pop out?
Depends on how loose they are. I%26#039;ve only seen it happen a couple of times. Of course, it will be a little more uncomfortable for you because of the loose teeth. But the good thing is, your plate will fit better. Good luck.
Reply:the molds are a soft pliable rubber that does not stick to the remaining teeth. It tastes funky but only takes 3 minutes to form. They then use those to make a plaster cast of your mouth and then use the plaster to make your bridge or dentures
Reply:It%26#039;s certainly possible, that%26#039;s for sure.... and it%26#039;s happened. It depends on the level of mobility of the tooth/teeth.
If it does, it%26#039;s one (or more) less extraction fee you%26#039;ll have to pay (at least in our office, anyway). With any luck the dental lab is close to the office, and their turnaround time is quick, so you won%26#039;t have to wait too long for the dentures.... just remember it takes a couple of visits.
Good luck to you!

False teeth glue?
I have a two tooth bridge and they have come out. Is there any where I can get something to stick them back in with?
I have been using super glue, but it only lasts a few weeks and I%26#039;m worried about the effects on my health.
False teeth glue?
Do Not use super glue! Go to your local drug store... they will have an OTC product that temporarily will hold your bridge in place.
You must see your dentist. He or she will be more than happy to recement your bridge. Usually bridges are made up of 3 teeth. A prepped tooth on each side and a pontic or missing tooth in the middle. This could be a reason why your bridge is loose, there is nothing holding it on the other side. There could be other reasons, it could be old, or you could have decay on your natural tooth. Visit your dentist.
Reply:No-More-Nails. I find it works treat!
Reply:Don%26#039;t try this for there are dentist who are experts in this area and will attend to your need. This is their work. please get to one and he will assist you accordingly.
Reply:Look for a dental technician. We have one locally who will mend your plate for £20 or completely reline them for about £60.Cheaper and much quicker than the dentist. Incidently,my wife broke hers in Spain last year and we got them mended for20 euros!

I am 34 and have a lot of dental problems. Would it be best to just get false teeth. I need over 12k in work?
I just got dental insurance recently however I need 12k in work due to not being able to afford the dentist prior to my insurance coverage. I know its best to keep your teeth, however I have broken teeth, missing teeth.
I am 34 and have a lot of dental problems. Would it be best to just get false teeth. I need over 12k in work?
Ponyboy and Dr. Sam are right on. Let me tell you a story. I remember doing dentures on a young man (I believe he was 22 or so) and he was in the same situation as you. He had neglected his teeth for a few years and the work he needed was even far less than what yours is. He decided that he was never going to take good care of his teeth, so he elected to have them all removed and dentures placed. We tried to talk him out of it but he would have none of it. So, we did what he asked. Months after it was all said and done and he had healed, I asked him how he was doing. He said he hated not having his real teeth. He had lost probably 20 pounds or more because he couldn%26#039;t eat and he just wasn%26#039;t happy. I think of that guy every time I hear someone say that want to get dentures.
You don%26#039;t need to get all $12,000 of work done at once. So, it may take a few years. Your dentist will put out the %26quot;big fires%26quot; first and then move on to smaller stuff. Have another consultation with him and explain your concerns. See if there is other options for these teeth. Your dentist will work hard to help you save them. I hope this answers your question. Good luck
Reply:i am in the same boat
Reply:It depends on if you can afford this. If you can, then by all means, save your teeth!! You are too young to be without your teeth. Good Luck!
Reply:Go to a dentist and INSIST you get dentures. The dentist like to keep people as a returning customer....once the dentures go in, they have to find someone else to make their boat payments.
If that dentist won%26#039;t do it, keep looking until you find someone who will. Ask people who have dentures...but first compliment them on theirs, then explain why. They will most likely give you a referral.
Reply:Been there and still going through it. My dentist talked me out of the false teeth and I%26#039;m glad. False teeth look fake, almost to perfect. I don%26#039;t know of anyone who has them that likes them.
Just taking my time getting it all done.
Reply:If your teeth are not decayed take your time you cannot fix all the problems with your teeth at once. Try to do as much as your dental insurance will pay for. Also see if you can get some of the work done at a dental school they usually do some work for free. Since they use you well for lack of a better word practice.
Good Luck with whatever you decide :)
Reply:Avoid dentures at all costs--they are a good replacement for nothing. Any teeth you can keep wiil serve you better in the long run. Talk to your dentist about phasing your treatment to help utilize your yearly max in benefits. Please don%26#039;t fall prey to the idea that dentures are wonderful-while they can work well, they are false teeth.
Reply:I agree with ponyboy. Dentures are better than chewing on your gums, but only about 20% as good as real teeth. Starting dentures at your age means you will have many, many years of dealing with all the headaches of false teeth.
Hey, some people do it and they say it%26#039;s just fine, but if you asked them in private, I%26#039;ll bet most wish they had their own teeth again.
I have not seen your $12,000 treatment plan, but maybe there is a Plan B. Maybe there are 2 or three teeth that might be removed instead of fixed (with root canal, post and crown for $2-2,500 each) that could bring your costs down considerably.
Sometimes it is possible to do an extensive case in phases. It%26#039;s not ALWAYS possible, but if it is, you can spread the budget out to maximize your insurance benefit over a few years and it won%26#039;t hurt you as bad financially.
Just some thoughts... I%26#039;d hate to see someone so young end up with dentures.

Is there a way that i can get get help to get my teeth pull and get false teeth?
Have you considered dentures? They dont%26#039; cost much.
Reply:There is not going to be a competent doctor that is going to do such a thing.
I thought I needed the same thing done and finding that the inside of my tooth was fine (no decay) they were able to apply caps (just as they do to movie stars) and they look great.
If you do have tooth decay they can do a root canal and then put a crown on that will look just as nice.
If you pull a tooth you risk your jaw going out of alignment (which would mean braces) and if you ask just about anyone with false teeth, they will tell you if they didn%26#039;t need them they wouldn%26#039;t have them.
Reply:!!!!??? do you brush your teeth an easy toothbush and some toothpaste is easy to find....why havent u looked for this earlier!!!!
Reply:check your colleges for dental students who are in training they will be able to help you...And their services are free.. and sometimes they pay you when they go to take the state exam...hope this helps
Reply:I expect you can go through public service if they are that bad. It would definitely be to your benefit to try.
Reply:there are many govenrment agencies to help you.
but if you are experincing infections go to an emergency room.
they cannot turn poor people away.
they aslo can provide a social worker to help you find the right agency to help you.
if you have infections in your mouth seek medical attention immediately.
there can be serious consequences from an infection so close to the brain. fever, systemic complications, and even death.
get some help at your local ER.
good luck.

best wishes.
Reply:Call around and find out where the nearest college of dentistry is in your area and contact them. Its free, my mother has had all of hers done that way and she has full dentures now.
Reply:Find a bad dentist, that will not make you pay in advance, perhaps you can tell him you have insurance that will pay for it, so please do it now we%26#039;ll discuss payment later. He wont deserve to be paid because if he does what you ask, he will be doing more harm than good. You may hate your teeth now,but thats because one doesnt appreciate how valuable his teeth are until he looses them and has to chew with false teeth. Steal the money you need for your dental work. If you get caught, all your dental work is free when your in prison. Either way your teeth come out ahead.

How can i eat my favorite steak if i lost my false teeth? why do old guy wants younger ones?
Put it in the food processor and blend it up so its soft - you will proabbly need to add a tiny amount of water or gravy to get a decent consistency.

Would you date, or feel differently, about a girl with false teeth? (regardless of age)?
I have permanently stained teeth from an antibiotic given to me when I was a baby. Bleaching, whiteing, and caps won%26#039;t help. I thought about fake one, but I%26#039;m only 25. I%26#039;m in a commited relationship now and he doesn%26#039;t care. But I%26#039;m afraid it will freak people out.
Would you date, or feel differently, about a girl with false teeth? (regardless of age)?
First of all I have to commend you for being brave enough to even ask the question, which by the way is a smart one too.
However having said that I must also ask WHY do you feel you would even have to tell people that your teeth are fake, or that you%26#039;re going to get fake teeth?
It is quite frankly NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS.
Another thing, [this is LONG...sorry] if everyone REALLY knew WHO...they would be extremely surprised to find out which MOVIE STARS actually have at this very moment complete set[s] of FAKE teeth.
Why don%26#039;t you know this? Because they NEVER speak of it, it%26#039;s a %26quot;given%26quot; [a trick of the trade] and unless told, you%26#039;ll never know.
By the way I have fake teeth too...mine are just the two in front [lost to a baseball accident at age 18] but unless I tell someone you would never guess it either. In the 25 years that I have had them, NOT ONE PERSON has ever guessed or questioned or even thought for a second, that they were fake.
I also dated the same man for three years and eventually married my husband who didn%26#039;t know they were fake until we had already been married for three MORE years and I had to tell him. I was going to have surgery and was asked if I had any fake or metal parts in my mouth so when I sheepishly looked at the doctor and nodded yes, talk about someone being shocked....BOTH the doctor and my husband couldn%26#039;t believe it....
My husband couldn%26#039;t believe that they were fake, and even had to exam them himself because he still refused to believe me thinking, I was joking with him and the doctor...LOL..I wasn%26#039;t. And the doctor even looked in my mouth and still couldn%26#039;t tell, until I told him, and all he could say was %26quot;Wow, you must have a GREAT dentist, they look SO real%26quot;.
So see not all teeth have to look like they are fake [nor feel like they are too], just make sure to get the very best COSMETIC DENTIST your money can afford, and you won%26#039;t be disappointed.
And don%26#039;t automatically assume that EXPENSIVE EQUALS COMPATENT AND TALENTED...because it doesn%26#039;t.
Always go for a few %26quot;silent%26quot; visits...like I did.
%26quot;Silent Visits%26quot; are when one doesn%26#039;t have a actual appointment but rather goes in quietly and observes the patients, and staff while in their normal course of business, to get a %26quot;feel%26quot; for the place.
So go and sit in the waiting room of any dental clinic/office, and just listen to what their patients are saying or talking about, most will if unhappy be very vocal about it so all you have to do is sit and listen, to hear if the doctor is good or not, kind or mean, arrogent, or compassionate to his patients problems.
Also don%26#039;t be shy about asking someone who appears unhappy or upset, why they are upset. Tell them you%26#039;re debating giving this doctor your business, and then step back and watch the flood gates of complaints or praises flow.
Another smart thing to do is to check with the medical board for any complaints against a dentist you are considering going to, to see if they have any violations on file. Just as with Medical doctors, Dental doctors have to be certified too, and they also answer to a review board and licensing agency,so make sure to do your homework and again you won%26#039;t be disappointed.
Times have advanced so far that the false teeth of my days are almost obsolete, and the models of today are made better, lighter, and more natural appearing, providing you don%26#039;t skimp on cost. Only downfall, is that they are being made not as durable as the thick, metal ones of old, so more care is required but they also look the most natural too.
So don%26#039;t skimp on quality for the sake of price...you%26#039;ll regret it and end up paying twice as much in repairs and adjustments if you don%26#039;t make sure to get it right the first time.
Skimping and dental do NOT go hand in hand successfully...a good COSMETIC dentist is worth every cent you spend and so do NOT skimp, especially where your appearance is concerned.
Afterall this is a part of your body that will make or break first impressions, and you NEVER get another chance to make a good impression if you fail the first time.
Make sure to get the best set available to you because that is what you will be stuck with, and also with what you will have to eat, sleep and smile with for many years to come.
Just keep in mind that advances have been made thus far that are astronomical in denture products, and so if you choose to get fake teeth, you couldn%26#039;t have picked a better time.
Another importent thing to remember is that COSMETIC DENTISTRY charge by the TOOTH...not by the body, so it WILL be expensive, and that getting use to having a piece of plastic [they%26#039;re actually acrylic but feel like plastic]in your mouth will take some SERIOUS ATTITUDE AND MENTAL ADJUSTMENTS...won%26#039;t be easy, but CAN BE DONE.
It took me almost a whole TWO MONTHS of CONSTANT CRYING AND PRONOUNCING MY WORDS FUNNY before I finally stopped taking it out of my mouth and feeling like giving up.
That was in the day BEFORE implants...so you%26#039;re lucky in that that is now an OPTION for you, where before it was only an option for the very wealthy, it is now available to all who are willing to pay for it.
They have also advanced to the stage of what is called MINI-implants, and that is where they take the denture part and SCREW IT into your gum line....[hurts no worse then a regular extraction as far as pain goes, and they also give you pain meds to help out], and it becomes like a permenant set of teeth, they are by far the strongest and longest lasting, and also act and feel just like your own teeth....and look GREAT!
So I would say aim if possible for mini-implants, but if not, don%26#039;t worry dentures are just as good and much more cost-wise for replacing bad teeth.
Mini-implants will run you WITHOUT DENTAL INSURANCE right around $1,500.00 with insurance much less, but some insurance companies don%26#039;t allow for dental implants...since they are cosmetic and cosmetic procedures are never covered by the average carrier.
So to be safe, plan on the minumum of $2,000 which will be allowing for extractions and prepping of your gums before you even get the implants. Also take into consideration that it will be almost about three to four MONTHS before you start to see any decent results.
Cosmetic dentistry is NOT a fast nor overnight adventure, so if you think you%26#039;ll set an appointment, go in get teeth pulled, and have implants or dentures cast and set the same day...think again. Cosmetic dentistry is a step-by-step process, and the more rushed you are the greater the chances for incorrect or ill-fitting dentures to be made and stuck with....so plan on taking vacation time, or sick leave or some kind of recovery time, from your job, social and family celender....becuase you WILL need it.
Good Luck, and hoped this helped.
Reply:nahh i dont think anyone would care if they were fake or not
Reply:OOOOO i know you must be self confident of this, but false teeth aren%26#039;t the way to go. Ask your dentist there must be a way to whiten them. Who cares if it freaks people out. If it does then they are not worth your time.
Reply:Try Veneers, they are supposed to be cutting edge. See a really good Dentist about them.
Reply:WHY WOULD YOU LET THAT GET TO YOU IF YOU HAVE A GREAT PERSONALITY THEN EVERYTHING ELSE WILL FALL INTO PLACE
Reply:come on they are jus your teeth, mostly wat matters is your personality not looks.
Reply:My friend is only 30 and has all false teeth, but his teeth were horrible. It changed his life for the better. No one even knows there fake unless he shows you. I don%26#039;t think a dentist will pull your teeth for cosmetic purposes only. You have to have a legit reason. They should be able to do somthing to whiten them.
Reply:False teeth are usually very nice white teeth. No one will know the difference except for your mate, and if that is a problem with him, then he is not worthy of u.
